At UK Planning Gateway, we may use artificial intelligence in selected parts of our platform to assist with user guidance, drafting support, document analysis, and other workflow-related functions.
We believe users should know when AI is being used in a meaningful way. Where relevant, we aim to identify AI-assisted features clearly and present them as support tools, not as substitutes for professional judgement or formal planning decisions.
Any content generated, summarised, or suggested by AI should be checked by the user before it is relied on or included in an application, supporting statement, or related submission. Responsibility for reviewing and approving final content remains with the submitting party.
Our use of AI is intended to support efficiency, clarity, and consistency in administrative and informational tasks. It is not intended to make legal, regulatory, or public authority decisions on behalf of users or decision-makers.
The EU AI Act introduces a risk-based framework for artificial intelligence, including transparency obligations for some systems that interact with users or generate content. UK Planning Gateway is mindful of those principles and will continue to review its practices in light of evolving guidance and applicable regulation.
This reflects the AI Act’s transparency principle that people should be informed when they are interacting with AI.
